Administration Guide

Welcome to the Chamilo 3.0 Administration Guide. This guide is designed for platform administrators responsible for installing, configuring, and managing a Chamilo instance.

What you can do as an Administrator

As a Chamilo administrator, you manage:

  • Installation and configuration — Set up Chamilo on your server, configure storage, email, and environment settings

  • Users — Create, import, and manage user accounts, roles, and permissions

  • Courses and sessions — Oversee course creation, manage the course catalog, and configure training sessions

  • Platform — Languages, portal news, the global agenda, and the Pages CMS tool

  • Platform settings — Configure portal behavior, security, performance, and feature availability

  • Analytics — Platform statistics, learning analytics, and corporate/HR reporting

  • Skills — Define competency badges and link them to gradebook results

  • System — Server maintenance tools, self-update, storage inspection, and branding

  • Rooms — Manage physical sites and bookable training rooms

  • Security — Monitor login attempts, review flagged intrusion attempts, check password strength, and verify file integrity

  • Plugins — Install, configure, and manage platform extensions

  • Authentication — Set up external login systems (OAuth2, LDAP, CAS, SCIM)

  • Integrations — Connect Chamilo to video conferencing, LTI tools, AI providers, and more

  • Maintenance — Perform backups, monitor system health, and manage storage

Accessing the Administration Panel

After logging in as an administrator, click Administration Admin in the sidebar to access the administration panel.
