# Plugins

Beyond the tools built into Chamilo, your platform administrator can install and enable **plugins** — optional features that add new tools, settings, or behavior to your courses. Plugins are off by default; each one only appears once your administrator has turned it on, and some only take effect after you also enable them for a specific course.

This section documents the plugins that change something a **teacher** interacts with directly. If you don't see a plugin described here in your own courses, it likely isn't enabled on your platform — ask your administrator.
