It is possible to choose the visibility of the announcement (by start and end date), the roles which this announcement is meant for, and to send it by e-mail. You can event send it to a social group.
If you want to publish this announcement in the global calendar, just tick the corresponding box.
This tool is particularly useful to send a maintenance, update or terms and conditions change on the portal.
