The blog tool lets you create a shared blog within your course. Learners can write posts, leave comments, and engage in structured writing activities.
Open the Blog tool from the course homepage (under the cog icon at the top)
Click New project
Enter a title and optional subtitle
Save
Decide when you want to make it available to students by clicking the Show (eye) icon
You can create multiple blogs within a single course (e.g., one per topic or one per group).
Open a blog
Click New post
Enter a title and write the post content using the rich-text editor
Save
Both teachers and learners (depending on permissions) can create posts.
Readers can interact with blog posts through:
Comments — Leave feedback or start a discussion under a post (comments can also be threaded as replies to other comments)
Ratings — Rate posts to highlight the most valued contributions
Attachments — Both posts and comments can carry file attachments
You can create tasks within a blog — specific writing assignments that learners must complete as blog posts. This is useful for:
Reflective journals
Weekly writing assignments
Project update reports
As the teacher, you can:
Edit or delete posts and comments (post deletion is restricted to the post author or to teachers)
Toggle blog visibility to show or hide the blog from learners
Define tasks — Add specific writing assignments learners are expected to complete as posts. Tasks can be color-coded for easier visual grouping.
