# Links

A link can be added in a category or at the root level:

To add a link:

* Click the *Add a link* icon ![](https://748165138-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F-LH9CCYPqjHw1VKNcuiq-2659285947%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-f66a972e07aea3f1563455adecb79b369da5ca23%2Fgraphics219.png?alt=media)
* Add the link's URL,
* Give it a label,
* Add a description of what is on the other side of the link, if desired,
* Select a category if desired,
* Choose whether to show the link on the course homepage or not,
* Click the *Save link* button.
